Hello, my name is Tiffany Jacob and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Behavioral Specialist, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I have my own Private Practice in Bethlehem Township and offer both in person and virtual counseling sessions.

To tell you a little about my background in the field, I started out in the mental health field as a counselor in a residential facility for 3 years working with adolescent boys with mild to moderate developmental disabilities with behavioral and emotional issues.

 

​I then held a position as a therapeutic support staff working in the homes of children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum, in addition to working with young people behavioral problems among various diagnoses including oppositional defiant disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, reactive attachment disorder, as well as anxiety, depression, and adoption.

​I attended Muhlenberg College for my undergraduate degree in psychology, and then earned my Masters in Clincial and Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College in 2008.  During my studies at Chestnut Hill, I completed an internship at Caron Treatment Center working with individuals in recovery from substance use disorder. 

 

After I earned my Master's, I worked as a counselor and behavioral specialist in homes and community through wrap-around services, working with families and staff to learn effective ways of assisting children with behavioral concerns more positive coping skills and prosocial behavior and supporting growth and development.

​​​Currently, I primarily work with adolescents and adults, and also offer marital counseling. My specialties include anxiety and depression, life changes/transitions, codependency, Autism Spectrum Disorders (adolescents and adults diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome), relationships - both marital and family dynamics, and stress management.  I focus on building the therapeutic relationship to assist clients to be able to open up in a manner that allows for self-exploration and foster growth. I use a Client Centered, Motivational, and Positive Psychology approach, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. For couples and family dynamics, I use Relationship Enhancement Therapy which works on building a more effective set of communication skills.  My approach for Autism Spectrum Disorders includes a focus behavioral and social components, including Social Thinking principles.  My goal is to tailor services to the client/family using a holistic approach based on strengths.
